Very beautiful hike. Out of 22 people who started the hike three of us went to summit from round top lake which is another 1000 ft elevation. View is spectacular from the summit ( see pictures ). I had to do this twice as two hikers were slow and we thought that they were lost. So the total distance I covered was 17 miles + elevation. The conditioning I had from my running and half dome hike helped a lot !!

Yosemite Half Dome Hike - Aug 1 2009

Summary:

Distance : 18 Miles
Elevation Gain : 4800 Ft.
Elevation at top : 8800 Ft.

This is the longest day hike which my wife and I have done in our life and I am glad that I did it. This hike takes you to the top of Half dome which is one of the peaks in yosemite and the last 500 ft you have to climb the rocks using cables. It took us 15 hours to complete this coz there was a huge line to go up cables but the view from top was well worth it.
